A UFC Heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos will now headline the highly anticipate UFC on FOX show November 12th from Anaheim, California.
Dana White made the shocking announcement earlier today when speaking to the media through a conference call.
Velasquez and dos Santos were originally scheduled to fight in San Jose, CA just one week removed from the UFC on FOX card. With the UFC gearing up for their block buster debut on the FOX Network, White and UFC execs decided to go with this Heavyweight Championship fight.
Preliminary discussions for the first-ever UFC on FOX card called for a two-bout fight card. White confirmed that the November 12th fight card will now feature the Heavyweight Championship fight. If time permitted, they will air a preliminary fight.
UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez is coming off a shoulder injury after capturing the title from Brock Lesnar last October. Velasquez has reassured the fans that he is 100% coming in to this fight; the biggest fight of his career and quite possibly, of the UFC.
Junior dos Santos comes in to this fight riding a seven-fight win streak. Dos Santos became the number 1 contender after a lop-sided victory over Shane Carwin.
The first showing of UFC on FOX promises to be unforgettable; production changes, one block buster fight on free television. Mixed Martial Arts fans are in for a treat come November 12th.
