Tim Sylvia Removed From Affliction Trilogy After Devestating KO

Reported by: Patrick Boucher of MMAinsiders.com - 6/15/09

After the most devastating loss of his career, Tim Sylvia has been pulled from Affliction Trilogy, which airs live on PPV August 1.

Sylvia was set to face former UFC Heavyweight Paul Buentello in the co-main event.

Affliction’s vice president Tom Atencio announced the change to the event on AOL Fanhouse. Citing the fight would be too soon, after Sylvia got knocked out in less than ten seconds.

Buentello will likely face the winner of Gilbert Yvel vs. Pedro Rizza. The two will clash later this month, June 27th at the Ultimate Chaos PPV in Biloxi, Miss. Although, this is far from confirmed - depending on how banged up the winner is.

Sylvia recently signed a new contract with the company, and is hopeful on returning by the year’s end or first quarter of 2010.

Ironically, Atencio will also be featured on the undercard when he faces off against Randy Hedderick.
