Welterweight bout: Georges St. Pierre vs. Jay Hieron

St. Pierre defeats Hieron by technical knockout (punches) at 1:42 of round one. Hieron was a late replacement for Jason "Mayhem" Miller, who had withdrawn from the card due to ongoing legal problems. [3]

Middleweight bout: Trevor Prangley vs. Curtis Stout

Prangley defeats Stout by submission (neck crank) at 1:05 of round two.

Lightweight bout: Matt Serra vs. Ivan Menjivar

Serra defeats Menjivar by unanimous decision. All judges scored the bout 30-27.

Main Card

Middleweight bout: Phil Baroni vs. Evan Tanner

In the anticipated rematch, Evan Tanner defeats Phil Baroni by unanimous decision. Judges scored the bout 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28. In their previous encounter at UFC 45, referee Larry Landless had stopped the fight prematurely after a miscommunication.

Welterweight bout: Matt Hughes vs. Renato Verissimo

Matt Hughes defeats B.J. Penn's training partner, Renato Verissimo, by unanimous decision. Judges scored the bout 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27. Verissimo had Hughes in trouble when he secured a Triangle Choke in the first round but Hughes managed to fight out.

Heavyweight Championship bout: Tim Sylvia vs. Frank Mir

Frank Mir defeats former champion, Tim Sylvia, by technical submission (armbar) at :50 of round one. Referee Herb Dean called a stop to the bout when he noticed a break in Sylvia's arm which appeared to Sylvia and the audience as an early stoppage, it was later revealed that Sylvia had indeed suffered multiple fractures to his right forearm. [4] Mir becomes the UFC Heavyweight Champion. Sylvia had earlier relinquished his championship belt after testing positive for anabolic steroids after UFC 44.

Welterweight bout: Frank Trigg vs. Dennis Hallman

Trigg defeats Hallman by technical knockout (punches) at 4:15 of round one.

Heavyweight bout: Ken Shamrock vs. Kimo Leopoldo

In the main event of the evening, Ken Shamrock defeats Kimo Leopoldo by technical knockout (knee strike to the head) at 1:26 of round one.
