David Terrell, in his UFC debut, scores an upset and defeats Matt Lindland by knockout at :24 in round one. Before the fight, Lindland was touted as the number one middleweight in the UFC.

Light Heavyweight Bout: Chuck Liddell vs. Vernon White

Liddell defeats White by knockout (punches) at 4:05 of round one.

Middleweight Bout: Joe Riggs vs. Joe Doerksen

In the swing bout of the evening, Joe Riggs defeats Joe Doerksen by submission from strikes at 2:39 of round two.

Light Heavyweight Championship Bout: Champion Vitor Belfort vs. Randy Couture

In the main event of the evening, Randy Couture defeats Vitor Belfort by technical knockout (doctor stoppage) at the end of round three. Belfort maintains that, sometime in the fight, Couture struck him with an unintentional headbutt, resulting in the laceration that eventually caused an end to the fight. Couture becomes the UFC Light Heavyweight champion for the second time.
