Matt Hughes defeats Georges St. Pierre by submission (armbar) at 4:59 of round one. Hughes becomes the UFC Welterweight champion.

Middleweight Bout: Rich Franklin vs. Jorge Rivera

Franklin defeats Rivera by submission (armbar) at 4:28 of round three. The match was stopped at :29 into the first round by an inadvertent groin strike by Rivera.

Light Heavyweight Bout: Tito Ortiz vs. Patrick Côté

In the main event of the evening, Tito Ortiz defeats Patrick Cote by unanimous decision. Initially, Tito Ortiz had been scheduled to fight Guy Mezger, a Lion's Den fighter and a rival of Ortiz'. However, Mezger suffered from stroke-like symptoms several weeks before the fight, prompting the UFC officials to find a replacement for the main event. They moved Patrick Côté, a French Canadian Light Heavyweight and TKO Light Heavyweight Champion, from the undercard to the main event.
